To costume the actors in the film ‘Tell Them of Us’ a story of a British family in the Great War, Liz Lovick has produced a wonderful book of knitting and crochet patterns contemporary to 1914-18. Many of them are reproductions of actual patterns held in the archive of the Knitting & Crochet Guild, but ‘translated’ so that you can knit them now. Others have been designed by Liz based on the styles that people wore at that time. There are over 70 patterns covering all items from coats, shawls, socks and hats to a few fun items.
The book also contains helpful advice on using vintage patterns, a history of the Crowther family and a fascinating article on the things that people were knitting in WWI.
It is a unique book and is available in print or as an ebook from Northern lace Press
